DESCRIPTION

«In the footsteps of the Argonauts» – combined trip – West Georgia

On this enduro tour the western regions of Georgia we can test our motorcycles on absolutely all road conditions. Our tour starts in Batumi, the relaxed tourist metropolis with a warm, subtropical climate on the Black Sea and ends in the imposing mountain landscape of the mighty Caucasus. The most spectacular part of the motorcycle tour awaits us in the Sthrough vaneti region, which boasts the highest peaks and the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

Georgian hospitality.

“The guest is a blessing from God” – true to this motto, visitors to Georgia are received. It is not just empty words but a particularly warm and unconditional hospitality that has characterized Svaneti for thousands of years. Every wish is granted to the always welcome guest and no effort is spared to completely satisfy him. It is in the nature of Georgians to take life the easy way and to turn even the most inconspicuous events into a festival. They are not looking for a special occasion to celebrate, but live the exuberant mood every day in their everyday life, despite the often difficult life situation. In Georgia, humanity comes first and you can be sure that you will never have to stand alone on the side of the road in the event of a breakdown. With all the good mood, of course, food and drink should not be missing. Georgian cuisine seduces with hearty dishes, accompanied by spicy wine and local spirits such as Tschascha. Which guest could turn down an invitation to such a festival of the senses?

Delicious Georgian cuisine.

It’s amazing how you can conjure up such tasty dishes under simple and humble conditions! The secret is obvious: it is a mixture of fresh ingredients and local herbs, prepared with love and care! On our tour you will get your money’s worth and get to know the cuisine of Svaneti with its traditional dishes. Our special extra: on our motorcycle tour through Georgia, amateur cooks have the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary skills and prepare a delicious mountain dish under local guidance.

Travel program.

Day 1. Arrival and transfer.

After arriving at Kutaisi airport, the bus transfer to Batumi takes place (approx. 1 hour) with subsequent check-in at the hotel. You are free to take a break or, alternatively, to explore the city. The modern city of Batumi on the Black Sea is the number 1 holiday destination in Georgia and the relaxed holiday atmosphere paired with a mild subtropical climate invites you to relax and makes you want to get to know more of the city. In Batumi we find a peaceful mix of different nationalities, cultures and beliefs. In terms of architecture, there is also harmony between old and new and modern skyscrapers meet ancient buildings. In the afternoon, the test drive is due to make sure that every motorcycle is tailored to its rider. At the end of this exciting day, we will have dinner together in a local restaurant.

Motorbike trip around Batumi.

After breakfast there is another motorcycle check followed by an off-road test drive towards the Turkish border across subtropical forests and the local settlements. In Batumi there is up to 90% humidity and it rains frequently and heavily. Today’s enduro trip consists of single treks through lush vegetation on red, partly rocky clay soil. It should be noted that the test drive off-road depends on the weather.

Special feature: In order to be able to spend this day in the forest, we need passes from the local border police. Please take your passport with you, preferably in a protective cover.

Day 2. Batumi – Goderdzi Pass (Lesser Caucasus).

Today starts early and at sunrise we say goodbye to Batumi and set off through the subtropical forest areas in the direction of the Semo-Adjara region. The first 50 km we drive on an asphalt pass road along the Ajariszqali river, which is lined with lush green vegetation and eaves-like natural landscapes. Although the mountains in Adjara do not reach the imposing heights of the Caucasus, they offer plenty of exciting variety during the journey. Our motorcycle tour is rich in mountain and valley trips as well as refreshing river crossings. We drive past numerous picturesque mountain villages and then reach the Goderdzi Pass (3000 meters) in the small Caucasus in the evening.

You can expect alpine meadows with a wonderful view of the idyllic landscape of the famous Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. We continue downhill to the spa town of Abastumani, where we take a lunch break at the Baratkhevi river to recharge our batteries for our enduro ride. Here we enjoy a feast of freshly caught and tasty prepared river trout. In the evening we reach the second largest city in Georgia, Kutaisi. During its long history, the city was once the capital of ancient Colchis and later of modern Georgia. Kutaisi has a compact and cozy historic old town that is extremely worth seeing. After this interesting layover, it’s time to storm the mountains. The Svaneti region is located in the northwest of Georgia, on the border with Russia, and is one of the most popular tourist areas in the country. The picturesque small town of Mestia has developed into a real tourist magnet in recent years and offers a wide range of attractions and services that are increasingly geared towards motorcycle tourism. You will certainly agree that Mestia is at the top of any motorcycle lover’s list of top sights, an absolute must! Despite its popularity, the place has remained down-to-earth and in the evenings you can meet herds of local cows strolling through the city on their way home. On our motorcycle route we visit original villages, in which time has literally stood still and the way of life seems almost unchanged for centuries.
